South Jordan, UT – June 29, 2025 — Utah Odia Community Hosts Grand Jagannath Rath Yatra in Salt Lake City

The Utah Odia Community brought vibrant colors, spiritual fervor, and cultural unity to Salt Lake City on Sunday with their grand celebration of the Jagannath Rath Yatra at the Sri Ganesha Hindu Temple of Utah. 

The festival, rooted in the ancient traditions of Puri, Odisha, commemorates the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, in elaborately decorated chariots. In South Jordan, the event commenced at 10:30 AM MDT, drawing hundreds of devotees and community members. 

Attendees participated in the sacred ceremony of seating the deities on the chariot, followed by the symbolic pulling of the chariot around the temple premises. The procession was accompanied by devotional singing, traditional dances, and cultural performances that showcased the rich heritage of Odisha. 

The celebration also featured authentic Odia cuisine, offering attendees a taste of traditional dishes prepared by community members. Evening prayers concluded the day's events, leaving participants with a sense of spiritual fulfillment and communal harmony.
